a. Grim Testament Basics

  • 01 - What is Grim Testament?

Grim Testament is a heavy RP guild based on the WoW server US-Ravenholdt – Horde. Aside from RP, we also dabble in PVE and PVP. The RP focus is a little dark; as such, happy-go-lucky-bubblegum characters might not fit so well into our ranks, but anyone is more than welcome to give us a try.  There are solutions to everything!

  • 02 - What are the themes behind Grim Testament?

Grim Testament is a guild based simply on the pursuit of chaos through the use of such temporary evils as order and organization. The members of the Testament have come to the understanding that most “order” in society is a farce, used to allow those in power to continue holding out over those below them; that most wars fought with “peace” in mind are merely ways to gain a greater hold over the opposition. “Good” and “evil” are terms used by those wishing to manipulate the weak of mind into a game of morals, nothing more – as alignment is merely an entirely self-based perception, it proves itself as no real judgment and is merely a tool for those who seek ways to control others.

The members of Grim Testament, however, recognize the need to fight fire with fire; therefore, in an effort to cause havoc in an orderly society, they take up their own form of organization to ultimately tear down the system from the inside out. Their heavily structured group holds together only under the premise of achieving their common goal. While in contrast to their more entropic goal, the Testament vigorously defends and aids its own with an indisputable zeal, preaching protection and aid to those who would embrace the chaos.

From an RP standpoint, there are many possibilities with Grim Testament: the devoted follower; the sly, power-seeking individual; the apathetic nihilist; the destruction-loving anarchist; the criminal seeking a refuge among those who would protect him.

“Grim Testament” is thus the name chosen to signify the “testament” those involved have towards enacting the greater reign of Chaos.

  • 03 - Is roleplay required? How is it achieved through guild chat?

As Grim Testament is a heavy RP guild, yes, roleplay is required.  We do not expect that you remain in character 100% of the time, as there are plenty of situations where remaining in character could prove difficult (for example, raid, party, or battle ground chat).  This is not to say you cannot remain in character at all times - if you can maintain that, more power to you!

However, guild chat is to remain always in character. This form of distant communication is accomplished through the enchanting of the hearthstone to allow those within the guild to communicate telepathically. Unfortunately, due to the telepathic communication of the stones, emotes cannot be used as there is no plausible way that they could be transmitted over thought. We cannot SEE you smile. The only exception to this is laughter.

  • 04 - Does GT engage in any PVE? PVP?

Grim Testament's members host a weekly Karazhan event every Tuesday, with invites starting at 7:00 server time and an estimated start time occurring at 7:30 server time. Our members make up about half of this group, and we fill the rest with friends or pug members. These runs are usually very successful, with full clears being achieved in four hours, give or take half an hour.

We've also participated in more than a few Gruul and Magtheridon raids, and we do plenty of heroics.

As for PVP, we have an arena team or two running, and a few of our members are battle ground junkies. We are also entirely willing to offer assistance in the case that you are being ganked. Just send the word!

WotLK update: GT has yet to participate in as much Wrath content due to the fact that we are all leveling (though we have been doing guild runs of instances about once a day). Once we reach 80, we do have plans to raid some.

  • 05 - Is there an OOC channel?

Because Grim Testament's guild chat is reserved for RP, we have an OOC channel to facilitate better communication where an in-character discussion might prove tedious, difficult, or otherwise impossible. And honestly, sometimes we just like to goof off!

Under no means is it a requirement to participate in the OOC channel, but there will often be important discussions regarding meeting places, events, or other such things held there. It's also a way to get to know the player behind the characters, and while Grim Testament itself might be a dark group, its players are more than happy to offer assistance or friendship to any of their fellow guildies.

Still, it is important to not over-abuse the OOC channel. We are an RP guild after all, and too much OOC leads to not enough RP!

The OOC channel is strictly for members of Grim Testament and their close friends. Because of this, the OOC channel can be found in the “Guild Info” tab in game. Please do not give this out!

  • 06 - Does Grim Testament have a guild bank?

Grim Testament does indeed have a guild bank - 3 tabs worth, mostly consisting of enchanting supplies, herbs, consumables and a smattering of miscellaneous items. While everyone has the option to view the tabs, access to materials is limited to higher ranking members.  Void Ascendants have some access to the guild bank in terms of what tabs they have access to and the amount they are able to withdraw.  However, all members with the Entropy Reaver and higher rankings have full access to the guild bank, except for enchanting mats. Due to some issues with this tab, it has been locked and is only accessible by the Chaos Harbinger and the Hand of Chaos.

This is not to say that members of lower rank may not acquire items from the guild bank – any member is more than welcome to ask a Reaver (or someone of higher rank) for a particular item or two. The request will be considered in a timely fashion (more often than not, instantly) and the item will be provided, free of charge.

In the same fashion, members are encouraged to donate items by mailing them to a Reaver or someone of higher rank to be placed into the guild bank.

While these procedures are subject to change with the growth of the guild, the denial of free guild bank access is an effort to prevent guild bank theft.

  • 07 - Does GT have a Ventrilo/Teamspeak server?

We have a ventrilo server, as provided by the very lovely Sehk.  Sehk is no longer a jerk, as he also uploaded our capacity from 10 people to 20 people!  Yay!

However, as we are mainly an RP guild, Ventrilo is not exactly a happening hang-out.  We tend to use it for things like raids or arenas.  This could change as more people join the guild, but... you know.

If you need to download Ventrilo, you can do so here.

  • 08 - What does the guild tabard look like?

I'm so glad you asked this!  Our tabard is dark red, framed by a solid white border.  A white chaos symbol decorates the front.

Here is Eyvindar, sexily modeling the guild tabard for your viewing pleasure.  Try not to have too many orgasms.

    Eyvindar is Sexy. Srsly.

b. Policies and Procedures

  • 01 - What rules exist in Grim Testament?

Despite our love of chaos, Grim Testament is still a guild with a certain degree of structure, and thus adherence to some basic OOC rules is required:

    1. First and foremost, all of Blizzard's established rules already stand. While the Testament prides itself on its dark themes, our image OOC is to remain as clean as possible.

    2. OOC, please try to remain as friendly and as courteous as possible. No ninja-looting, no over-abusive smack-talk (though I understand the fun of arguing with people/smack talking before a good fight, so this is allowed in small amounts), no excessive jack-assery. You get the point.

    3. As this is a roleplaying guild, our members are expected to be upstanding members of Ravenholdt's RP community. Guild chat is in character 100% of the time. Please try to remain in character outside guild chat in /s or /y as much possible.

    4. Our guild follows a darker theme than most. We are not lovey-dovey, happy-go-lucky help everyone. Do not take our RP personally; we're lovely people in real life. Still, when interacting with other people outside the guild, expect others to take things too seriously. Feel free to explain, ooc, that your character is not so nice, but that you yourself are a wonderful person.

    5. The Reavers, the Hand, and the Sage are all given a responsibility to know what is right and wrong in the guild; if they ask you to stop doing something, please abide their wishes. On the other hand, if you feel their judgment too unfair, please bring it up with Asellis.

    6. While you are more than welcome to discuss real life drama in our OOC channel or our forums, please try and keep its effect on you to a minimum. This is a game. We play for fun. Don't over burden people who have no way of helping you.

    7. ERP seems to be a common problem for RP guilds. While we do not want our guild known as an “ERP guild”, I'm not going to nitpick and say you cannot do it. But if you do, please keep it to whispers or party speak (or raid chat, if you're that kinky).

    8. Grim Testament is a guild that consists of adults. As such, our themes might be a tad dark for those who are younger. While extreme situations might merit an officer intervention, for the most part there will be no policing of content to keep things “tame” for younger members. Because of this, we request that you be at least 17 or older before applying/joining Grim Testament.

    9. If you do not log in for more than 20 days, you will be removed from the guild unless one of two things are met. Please view the specific topic for more information pertaining to this rule.

  • 02 - How do I join Grim Testament?

Filling out an application is the obvious answer. After a Reaver or higher looks at your application, you will be contacted for an IC interview. If the interview goes well, you will be invited to the guild and asked to fill out a biography for your character in a timely manner.

The application process can be bypassed if you contact a Reaver or member of higher ranking in game to discuss joining Grim Testament. It does not matter if you approach the Reaver IC or OOC, but you must still participate in an IC interview to determine both your RP skills and whether or not you would make a good addition to the guild.

Sometimes, a Reaver or someone of higher rank might extend an invitation to a person in game who did not fill out an application or perform an IC interview. This is normally based off of previous IC interaction with the character, and more often than not the invitation is based off of IC reasons. Occasionally this might also have to do with the OOC relationship the Reaver or higher-ranked member has with the person playing the character.

Regardless, all members must eventually fill out a biography form on the forums at some point unless given a pass by the Harbinger.

  • 03 - What is this biography thing I keep reading about?

As Grim Testament is a heavy RP guild, it functions based on how well its members RP. To get a grasp of how well you RP, and to get a basic concept of the sort of person your character is, all mains in Grim Testament are asked to fill out a biography form in our biography forum.

There are a few exceptions to this. Discussing your inability to fill out a biography form with a member ranked as a Reaver or above could grant you exclusion from this rule or extra time to fill one out. Aside from this, alts of well established members with the rank Chaos Acolyte or above also are not expected to fill out a character biography, although it is highly recommended that they do.

For more information on alts, please view the specific question pertaining to that.

  • 04 - How are alts handled in Grim Testament?

You are not allowed to bring an alt into Grim Testament unless you have moved past the Neophyte rank and into the Chaos Acolyte rank. You must also be a well-established member of Grim Testament, and this decision is at the discretion of a high ranking member.

Alts follow special rules, provided you are a member of good standing. They are exempt from the 20 day inactivity rule as long as you keep your main active, and they are also exempt from filling out a biography form, although it is highly suggested that you do fill one out.

While on your alt, you are still expected to remain in character, and regardless of whether or not you have filled out a biography form, you must play your character as a different person.

You can never achieve a rank higher than Void Ascendant with an alt unless special circumstances apply. For instance, Eyvindar's RP has forced him to be enemies with the Scryers and the Aldor. As such, he cannot access the guild bank in Shattrath. His alt, Avitus, is allowed to be a Reaver so that he may trade items between his characters via the mailbox and successfully bank.

Beyond that, you would have to be superb at RP and active on both your main and your alt to have both in Reaver positions.

  • 05 - How is guild drama handled?

All great tales and stories revolve around a conflict or goal that either a single person or a group of people must work to solve. This is rarely done without some sort of emotional investment.

Because Grim Testament deals mostly with characters of a darker nature, it goes without saying that there will be plenty of drama to go around. We fully expect your characters to lie, backstab, use and extort others, whether these people be in the guild or out.

However, while this is all encouraged in character, it is NOT encouraged out of character. You must treat your fellow players with respect. Along these same lines, if you are unable to discern in character actions from out of character ones, Grim Testament is not for you. Just because someone's character is unkind to you does not mean that the player behind that character has unkind feelings.

Still, if you feel someone is taking their roleplay a bit too far, you are invited to discuss it with an officer in private.

  • 06 - What happens if I have an issue with someone/something in Grim Testament?

Unfortunately, not everything can be run to perfection, and people are bound to have problems with something. But while drama is encouraged in character, it is severely discouraged out of character. Should anything occur, rest assured that officers of Grim Testament will take careful steps to resolve whatever issues may arise.

    • Player Conflicts - In the issue where two members of Grim Testament have an out of character conflict that cannot be resolved between the two of you, it is recommended that you bring the issue up with an officer.  Do not bring it into the forums or into the OOC channel.  Disciplinary measures will be met with such actions. The officers will try their best to help solve the conflict in private. You may reach an officer via whispers or via forum private messages.

    • Officer Issues – If any of the officers do something you feel is unjust, it is only a matter of contacting someone who is above them. Once more, do not bring this onto the public forums or into the OOC channel – please use private messages or whispers.

    • Guild/Event Conflicts – Issues with the way an event is run, scheduling conflicts, rules, roleplay plot lines, etc. may be brought up via the OOC channel or on the forums, where all members may equally contribute.

  • 07 - What happens if I need to go on an extended leave?

One of the rules dictates that inactivity for longer than 20 days results in guild removal. This rule is null and void, however, if your character is:

    • An established alt of an active character with the rank of Chaos Acolyte or above, or

    • You have informed an officer or made a post on the Extended Leave forum explaining your absence.

With either of these exceptions, you can remain in Grim Testament indefinitely.

  • 08 - What disciplinary measures are there?

While we hope that no severe issues will arise here in Grim Testament, misbehavior will not go unnoticed.  Those breaking rules or meriting discipline will be met with the following:

    • A warning.
    • Demotion/privileges revoked.
    • Removal from the guild.

c. Guild Ranking System

  • 01 - What are the guild ranks?
There are, at the moment, seven ranks within the guild, 3 of which are unattainable as they are one-person only ranks.  This might be subject to change as the guild grows/more needs arise.

    • Neophyte – The lowest rank in Grim Testament, it is more so a rank to mark a trial member than anything else. Here is where you can be exposed to Grim Testament's RP style and where we can in turn evaluate your place as a member. If after a week it is decided you are a good fit and you have filled out a biography form (there are exceptions to this - please discuss it with a high ranking member), you will be moved to "Chaos Acolyte".

Note that those who have been demoted for disciplinary measures may also be demoted down to Neophyte.

    • Chaos Acolyte - Members who have proven themselves above simple Neophytes but are still new to the teachings of Chaos are housed under this title. More respect and trust is awarded these members, but it must be understood that they are still young and inexperienced in the ways of the Testament, and thus are still viewed with a certain degree of wariness.

    • Void Ascendant – This rank denotes a full fledged member of Grim Testament – these members have limited access to the guild bank and are privy to more important information discussed by the guild. While attaining this rank has no clear-cut path for one to follow, you must have been a member of Grim Testament for at least a month, unless the Harbinger, Hand or Sage decide otherwise.

This is the main force of the Testament, and compromises the most esteemed members sans the Reavers.

    • Chaos Reaver – A Reaver is the “officer” position in the guild. Reavers have full access to all guild controls, as well as full access to the guild bank. They can be reached for any questions or concerns OOC and are a fount of knowledge IC. Members of low rank who are not-permitted access to the guild bank may contact these Reavers when requesting an item or items from the guild bank, or when faced with a problem they cannot solve on their own.

Becoming a Chaos Reaver is at the sole discretion of the Harbinger, as these are people she considers her trusted advisors. Promotion of members to this rank shall be discussed between the Harbinger, her Hand and Sage.

    • Sage of Whims – The left hand of the Harbinger, the Sage of Whims is a position held by Sehk. It is a singular position – as such, no one can hope to attain this rank. The Sage oversees a lot of Testament's planning and organization, working diligently on information gathering and spreading the Testament's word.

    • Hand of Chaos – The right hand of the Harbinger, the Hand of Chaos is Asellis' most trusted advisor. It is held entirely by Eyvindar, and is another rank that cannot be attained. The Hand's position is one of enforcement; he studies those in the Testament, making sure they adhere constantly the goals laid out by the Harbinger, watching carefully for any sign of weakness that might surface. He is fully devoted to the cause, and he oversees the force behind the Testament.

    • Auspex of Chaos – The typical “guild leader” position, this is held by Asellis, and is the final unattainable rank. She ensures that the guild remains true to its original vision and does not stray far from its path. While the “leader”, she does not make decisions entirely on her own; her meetings with the Hand and the Sage help form the basis behind the Testament.

She remains the main speaker of the Testament, seeking tirelessly to spread the word and ideals of the guild.

  • 02 - How do I advance the ranks?

As Grim Testament views organization as a necessary evil, ascending the ranks does not work as easily as it would in most guilds. While there is no step-by-step process, there are some things to keep in mind.

    Roleplay tips:

    • Dedication to the cause is often rewarded.  You are judged by your superiors as to how devoted you are to achieving the goals of the Testament.  They in turn may put in a good word for you where those words matter most.
    • Allign yourself with the right people.  The Testament's shady goals are run by similarily shady people.  You claw your way to the top.
    • Keep an eye open for those who would harm the cause, and bring that up to those who need to know.  There is no better way to make yourself shine than to spit on the mistakes of another!

    Out of character tips:
    • In order to advance past Neophyte, you MUST fill out a biography form.  Special exceptions are made at the discretion of high ranking members, but don't expect too much.
    • Out of character, officers are there to help you where their time permits, be it with leveling, questions - whatever.  Being helpful OOC gives you special consideration.  It's much better to help than to constantly beg.
    • Drama in character is good.  Drama out of character is bad.  Keep this in mind - don't cause too much trouble.
    • OOC, don't be too abrasive to your fellow players.  Being a jerk can be funny sometimes.  But not that funny.

  • 03 - What happens if the guild leader goes on leave?

If Asellis needs to go on leave from WoW for any reason, power will be given to second-in-command, Eyvindar (who just so happens to be Selly's room mate and bestest buddy ever). All guild-based decisions must be cleared by him, so be sure to run any questions by him in this event. Thanks!

d. Roleplay Information

  • 01 - What are the basics for roleplay in WoW and GT?

Roleplay in WoW is something that is mostly instigated by guilds and their interactions with their members and members of other roleplaying guilds. While it normally remains in guild channels, /say and /yell, some people will even take it into the general channels, party speak, and whispers.

Grim Testament requires that all interactions in guild be IC. We also hope that you will maintain yourself in character in /say and /yell. Maintaining your character in anything else is not at all required, but it is admirable.

While remaining in character, there are a few guidelines to consider.

    1. In guild speak, as communication is facilitated through a form of psychic communication, all emotes will be kept to a minimum. It is impossible to see “emotes” when the only communication is limited to voice. You cannot see someone “smile gently” while they are talking to you on the phone. Use that analogy to keep yourself in check.

    2. Do not use acronyms or chat speak. “Lol”, “rofl”, and “wtf” are not phrases your character would use (or even understand) under any circumstance. “BRD”, “MGT” and “WC” for “Black Rock Depths”, “Magister's Terrace” and “Wailing Caverns” respectively, should also be avoided. When discussing a place or an object in WoW, please take the time to spell it out. Not doing so cheapens your character.

    3. Do not speak of game mechanics. Level, talent trees, etc. are all things that should be avoided when speaking IC. There are clever ways to discuss these things in character should you need to. For example:

      • When discussing levels, you could mention that you have “Gained season,” or “Eyvindar is far more experienced than I."

      • Spec can be discussed as “I have been studying the arts of discipline, but I am still fond of my holy powers,” instead of “I'm mostly holy, but I've got some discipline talents.”
    4. Please try and form basic, proper sentences and keep away from atrocious spelling. It is not expected of you to be a grammar genius, but please do not be lazy. “i went 2 silr moon city to git ur booze, but the allies was beatn meh up. U shud come help, lol” is unacceptable.

    5. Do not god-mode. This is the act of roleplaying your superiority over someone, either automatically assuming your victory over them or not giving them a chance to respond. For a further explanation on god-moding, please view the glossary of role-play terms.

    6. When creating/building your characters, please stay away from the Mary Sue/Gary Stu. For more information on this, please see the roleplay glossary of terms.

  • 02 - Roleplay Glossary of Terms

Roleplayers often use a variety of acronyms and terms to quickly get across an idea. Here is a quick glossary of terms used.

    • RP - Stands for "role play".

    • In Character/IC – Designates that someone is “in character”. This means that the person's actions, comments, and behavior are the behavior of their character, not the player behind the character.

    • Out of character/OOC – This means that the player is speaking as the player, not their character.  While it is not necessary to designate that you are speaking OOC in the OOC channel, if you need to interrupt /say or guild speak with an OOC statement, you must designate it.  This can be done in one of two ways:

      1. Prefacing the remark with OOC:. This looks like --> OOC: We need to go to BRD to finish that quest.

        or

      2. OOC brackets, which look like this: ((We need to go to BRD to finish that quest.))

    • ERP - "Erotic role play". A fancy name for cyber. While we do not condone it, if you seek to participate in it, keep it in party speak or raid chat - not in the public channels.

    • Godmoding - This can describe two actions.  From the Wikipedia article (which you can view for more information):

      1. "Godmoding can occur when a player describes an event or a series of events his or her character has taken against another character or interactive object, most often with the purpose of rescinding negative effects previously encountered or granting some other effect inconsistent with an objective view of the narrative."

        or

      2. " Godmoding can also refer to the case where a player definitively describes the outcome of their own actions against another character or interactive object. For example, if player A states, "A strikes B and B takes damage", they could be considered to be godmoding. Another example of this might be where a character is facing multiple enemies, and they redirect one foe's attack onto another. For example, Player A states, "B misses A completely, and strikes C instead." This form of godmoding is also referred to as "Autoing". Active godmoding can also take the form of controlling characters that belong to someone else."
    • Mary Sue/Gary Stu - Used to describe a character that is "too perfect/too tragic." From the Wikipedia article (which you can read for more information):

Mary Sue, sometimes shortened simply to Sue, is a pejorative term used to describe a fictional character who plays a major role in the plot and is particularly characterized by overly idealized and clichéd mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as wish-fulfillment fantasies for their authors. Perhaps the single underlying feature of all characters described as "Mary Sues" is that they are too ostentatious for the audience's taste, or that the author seems to favor the character too highly. The author may seem to push how exceptional and wonderful the "Mary Sue" character is on his or her audience, sometimes leading the audience to dislike or even resent the character fairly quickly; such a character could be described as an "author's pet".

  • 03 - What is alignment?

Alignment is one of the things you must designate for your character when filling out an application or our biography form. It is based on the Dungeons and Dragons' alignment system, which you can learn more in-detph at the Wikipedia article.

There are 9 alignments to chose from, though because of the difficulty of picking just one, Grim Testament allows you to pick a mix of two if need be. Different situations call for different actions, of course!

    • Lawful Good - Lawful Good is known as the "Saintly" or "Crusader" alignment. A lawful good character typically acts with compassion, and always with honor and a sense of duty. A lawful good nation would consist of a well-organized government that works for the benefit of its citizens.

    • Neutral Good - Neutral Good is known as the "Benefactor" alignment. A neutral good character is guided by his conscience and typically acts altruistically, without regard for or against Lawful precepts such as rules or tradition. A neutral good character may cooperate with lawful officials but does not feel beholden to them. A doctor that treats soldiers from both sides in a war would be considered Neutral Good.

    • Chaotic Good - Chaotic Good is known as the "Beatific" or "Rebel" alignment. A chaotic good character favors change for the greater good, disdains bureaucratic organizations that get in the way of social improvement, and places a high value on personal freedom.

    • Lawful Neutral - Lawful Neutral is called the "Judge" or "Disciplined" alignment. A lawful neutral character typically believes strongly in Lawful concepts such as honor, order, rules and tradition, and often follows a personal code. A Lawful Neutral society would typically enforce strict laws to maintain social order, and place a high value on traditions and historical precedent. Examples of Lawful Neutral characters might include a soldier who always follows orders, a judge or enforcer that adheres mercilessly to the word of the law, or a disciplined monk.

Characters of this alignment are neutral with regard to Good and Evil. This does not mean that Lawful Neutral characters are amoral or immoral, or do not have a moral compass; but simply that their moral considerations come a distant second to what their code, tradition or law dictates. They typically have a strong ethical code, but it is primarily guided by their system of belief, not by a commitment to Good or Evil.

    • Neutral - Neutral alignment, also referred to as True Neutral or Neutral Neutral, is called the "Undecided" or "Nature's" alignment. This alignment represents neutral on both axes, and tends not to feel strongly towards any alignment. A farmer whose only concern is to feed his family is of this alignment. Most animals, lacking the capacity for moral judgment, are of this alignment.

Some neutral characters, rather than feeling undecided, are committed to a balance between the alignments. They may see Good, Evil, Law and Chaos as simply prejudices and dangerous extremes.

Druids frequently follow this True Neutral dedication to balance. In an example given in a D&D rulebook, a typical druid might fight against a band of marauding gnolls, only to switch sides to save the gnoll's clan from being exterminated.

    • Chaotic Neutral - Chaotic Neutral is called the "Anarchist" or "Free Spirit" alignment. A character of this alignment is an individualist who follows his or her own heart, shirks rules and traditions. They typically act out of self-interest, but do not enjoy seeing others suffer. Many adventurers are of this alignment.

An unusual subset of Chaotic Neutral is "strongly Chaotic Neutral", describing a character who behaves chaotically to the point of appearing insane. Characters of this type may regularly change their appearance and attitudes for the sake of change, and intentionally disrupt organizations for the sole reason of disrupting a Lawful construct.

    • Lawful Evil - Lawful Evil is referred to as the "Dominator" or "Diabolic" alignment. Characters of this alignment show a combination of desirable and undesirable traits: while they typically obey their superiors and keep their word (trustworthy), they care nothing for the rights and freedoms of other individuals. Examples of this alignment include tyrants, devils, those with samurai-like aspects, and soldiers who follow the chain of command but enjoy killing for its own sake.

    • Neutral Evil - Neutral Evil is called the "Malefactor" alignment. Characters of this alignment are typically selfish and have no qualms about turning on their allies-of-the-moment. They have no compunctions about harming others to get what they want, but neither will they go out of their way to cause carnage or mayhem when they see no direct benefit to it. An example would be an assassin who has little regard for formal laws but does not needlessly kill. A villain of this alignment can be more dangerous than either Lawful or Chaotic Evil characters, since he is neither bound by any sort of honor or tradition nor disorganized and pointlessly violent.

    • Chaotic Evil - Chaotic Evil is referred to as the "Destroyer" or "Demonic" alignment. Characters of this alignment tend to have little respect for rules, other peoples' lives, or anything but their own selfish desires. They typically only behave themselves out of fear of punishment.

  • 04 - Does GT use any specific roleplaying mods?

While there are more than a few roleplay mods used to designate yourself as a roleplayer in game or give yourself a profile that others can read, Grim Testament suggests that you use FlagRSP2. You can obtain this add-on here.

Aside from FlagRSP2, there is also Roleplaying Helper Version 3, a mod that allows you to assign emotes and sayings to certain spells and skills.  Whie it is highly suggest you look into FlagRSP2, it is completely optional whether or not you make use of the Roleplay Helper.  The mod offers some interesting options, but it does have a tendency to be overwhelming at points.  Use with caution.

  • 01 - How do I sign up as a member of Grim Testament on this site?

You must first sign your character up with WoWstead.  After doing that, you are asked to verify that you are a member of Grim Testament.  You may do this by selecting "Verify" at the top of the page and entering a guild password to prove you are indeed a member of Grim Testament.

This password can be located in the Guild Info tab in game.  Please do not give this password out.
  • 02 - If I'm a member, do I have to make use of this website?

It is recommended, yes. Aside from being a huge source of information, being active on the site keeps you up to date with event news and helps foster both RP and how well the guild works together!  Here we can share IC and OOC concerns, discuss possible events, plot various storylines, etc.  As a member, we also encourage you to create your own Image Gallery in the "Member Gallery" section of the website.

While we cannot force you to participate beyond the request you fill out a biography form on the forums, we can certainly hope you show some initiative and care for your guild!

  • 03 - Why can I not see some of the forums?

Certain sections of the forum will have limited viewing depending on if you are a member of the guild or a member of a certain rank.  Please make sure you have verified your character in order to view the proper forums.
